zanzibar.jpgThe Road to Zanzibar – is a series of paintings by Gary Palmer,  based on travels in East Africa, along the route that Dr. Livingston took when he was trying to stop the slave trade in East Africa. From the shores of Lake Malawi to the island of Zanzibar off the coast of Tanzania. The paintings are abstract figurative narrations telling of aspects of village life and local traditions, with particular focus on moments in daily life in which people transcend differences of cultural origin or the legacy of historical conflicts.

The Zanzibar Collection is now available as a series of 9 prints on watercolor paper with 1 1/2 border and deckled edge, and a book with journal entries adjacent to images of the paintings – total cost – $1500.
Gary will donate $500 to the Mali Fala Fund on all Print Collections sold through the Mali Fala Fund’s website.
